Semantha Norris is a photographer, documentarian, and Los Angeles native. She received a BA from New York University, Gallatin School of Individualized Study, with a concentration in Global Networks, Development, and Photography. She continued her photographic studies at Julia Dean Photo Workshops (Los Angeles Center of Photography). During her schooling she studied abroad in Italy, Ghana, and Cuba. She has exhibited work in New York, Havana, and Los Angeles. Semantha has been published in zines such as Stay Young Zine Issue Two and BOYFRIEND/GIRLFRIEND printed by Art and Smoke. Semantha is co-founder of MotherLode a pop-up curatorial team based out of Los Angeles. She initiated the photo and print department at Almost Holden Collection, during which she also curated two of the first gallery exhibits: Havana Mverte and Coast2Coast. Her primary medium is analog film photography. Currently her work focuses on the mundane and surreal nature of daily life, as well as video culture and the glitch age.
